The Election of 1860 was when Abraham Lincon was elected as our president. He won with a very strong support system from the North. As a downfall to his presidency, South Carolina had a "special convention" and successfully signed the Artilce of Secession which meant that Sputh Carolina was no longer a part of the United States of America simply because the felt like their rights weren't protected.
