In the summer of 1969, Neil Armstrong, of the Apollo 11 mission, became the first person to ever set their foot on the surface of the moon. He said the famous quote, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind," and became the most famous astronaut in history, even though he had two pilots, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins. Apollo 11 was an important victory that would award America as the winner of the Space Race.
