3 окт 1921 г. - Ozawa v. United States

Описание:

Takao Ozawa was a Japanese-American who attempted to obtain citizenship under the Naturalization Act of 1906. Ozawa ultimately defended his rights to citizenship by claiming he was a fully-assimilated Japanese-American through his cultural intake, language, and--most importantly-- white skin. In the end, Ozawa was still found ineligible for citizenship.

I want to remember this case as important to Asian American history because of Ozawa's reasonings for citizenship. He played into the notion of white supremacy and assimilation. These reasonings overall hurt the Asian American community and reflected not only the internalization of racism in Asian Americans, but how they would forever be seen as foreigners to the U.S.
