The Korean War began in the summer of 1950 when North Korea invaded South Korea. The North was communist, and the South was democratic. The North got aid from the Soviet Union and China, and the South got aid from America and the United Nations. Truman desperately wanted South Korea to stay democratic, which it did. However, no side really won since the border basically stayed the same.
