Black Alaric the Pirate, the exiled cousin of Clan Chief Darius Fyrson of Tethyr, leads a band of pirates to settle the Nelanther isles. They prey upon growing sea trade and steal ships.

After Black Alaric fails in an attempt to capture Helbrester for himself, the Sunset Towers of Helbrester become a neutral meeting ground for all residents and visitors to the Nelanthers.
