The 2nd president of the united states ( John Adams), and the 3rd (Thomas Jefferson), both founding fathers die on the same day; that day also ironically being the 4th of July; which commemorates the day the Declaration of Independence was formally adopted by the Continental Congress. The Declaration of independence was signed by John Adams, and largely written by Thomas Jefferson (making him the primary author)
