The September 11, 2001 attacks were a series of four terrorist attacks by al-Qaeda on the morning of September 11. Terrorists hijacked four different planes in mid-flight. They flew two of the planes into skyscrapers, another destroyed part of the Pentagon, and the fourth crashed in Pennsylvania. The attacks killed 2,996 and injured over 6,000 others.
