In 1976, one of the General assembly's plan is to provide equal opportunities and rehabilitation to those people with disabilities; and the prevention of impairment. With this, they proclaimed the year 1981 as the period for the International Year of Disabled Persons.

The picture depicts Two patients at the Rehabilitation Centre for Paralyzed Patients playing chess. A centre in Dacca which was opened in 1979 provides rehabilitation services for paraplegic and tetraplegic patients.
