At the private initiation, Matthew chooses to change his name to Sandstorm, after Brenna's successful operation that allowed him to become a private. Brenna reveals to Matthew, the chiefs, and her three friends the deal that she made with Valencia: she and the other three are Taera's legendary Fighting Four. Brenna must leave to return to Taera with the others. To make up for her years in secret, when Kairos needs it, they may call upon the Fighting Four, and the four of them will fight on Kairos's side, waving the flag of Taera with them. The ceremony is completed, the name of Scorch is revoked, and Brenna becomes nameless within Kairos. To her surprise, all 5 chiefs agree to give her an honorable discharge to spare her, which would save her name so that others cannot use it, and themselves any embarrassment.
