WASHINGTON, May 23. — The Northern Baptist Convention, which convenes here on Tuesday, is threatened with a bitter church fight and a possible split over modernism, Standard Oil and the Rockefeller millions. An underground movement, which has been in formation for months and is the outgrowth of former meetings of various organizations concerned, is just now coming to the surface.
