WW1 has many things that caused it to happen. For example, militarism, alliances, nationalism, imperialism, and the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. In June, Archduke Ferdinand was driving through the city when he and his wife were shot. The assassination started a crisis, and on July 28 Austria-Hungary declared war against Serbia.
