The Grange was founded by Oliver H. Kelley to reunite isolated farmers and provide social, educational, and fraternal enrichment to their lives. Over time, the Grange became a place for famers to share their political ideas with one another, thus foudninf the Populist Party. As members of the Grange began running for various political positions, their ideas were being spread farther.
