Mostly known as the Mexican Cession, it refers to the surrendered land to the United States by Mexico. This was part of the treaty named Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, signed by the mexican president Antonio López de Santa Anna in February 2, 1848 during the war between Mexico and the United States. The lost territory was California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Texas, parts of Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas and Oklahoma. In addition, Mexico would relinquish all claims on Texas and the international border would be established on the Rio Grande.
