james has heard about everything, ofc, so he takes jos, who's really the best of the guard, to look for kano bc he knows that the police are after him
they go to confront him, maire's being very defensive of him, james is all 'this isn't a time for playing games, they're accusing u of killing wiliam now, too, and abetting ll in murder and stuff'
they bring up winsborough somehow, maybe he's all 'they say u killed him, too'
and maire has been adament that kano hasn't killed anyone, and so has kano (honestly, he carries the conversation with maire as support) and now maire's all 'he didn't kill him'
so james asks her how she could possibly be so sure of that, and she says that it's bc she killed him
everyone is shocked, especially jos, who has to leave
maire follows him, he's all 'what else are u lying about'
so she finally comes clean
and he's furious
she turns around to see james and kano have followed them upstairs
james is all 'this is all very nice, but we have actual issues here. kano, u stay here until we can get ur name cleared'
and they go back downstairs again when maire remembers smth
she's all 'he couldn't have done it, it's literally impossible'
they both frown but kano gets it then and is all 'i can't read'
so james is all 'anyone could fake that, that's not proof'
so kano says 'yea, but i'm also right-handed'
so they go to the constable and is all 'the literal prince is on his side and also he can't read or write'
they also bring sika who presents his findings
james throws smth at kano suddenly, which he catches with his right hand
should this be enough evidence? idk, they're still wary, but with the prince and future king speaking on his behalf, no one is gonna say anything
mayre tries to celebrate with kano, but kano's having none of it
james goes back home where they have the isabella conversation and james tells him everything
afterwards, james is feeling destructive (and also protective) and goes to tell ada everything
