zaya wakes maire up and tells her to come quickly
she takes her to his autopsy room where kano is lying on one of the tables, clearly in pain and with shadows darting through his veins
he's muttering smth in kassan, probably just 'why did my family leave, im sad'
sika is trying to help him and maire takes his hand and holds him down and tries to soothe him
it semi-works, and they eventually get him under control
when they finally get him to fall into somewhat peaceful sleep, maire notices another body on the other table with a white cloth over it
maire asks who it is, and sika says she arrived just before dawn
he says it was a prostitute from highward and that her name was andrea (or maybe just andie, idk)
we are now four out of seven murders deep, so just past the halfway point
anyways, kano is now the number one suspect, but maire is now a staunch believer in that not being true bc his words yesterday really shook her and she refuses to give up on him
(james absolutely believes that he did it, but he's grieving andie)
kano is still asleep, and sika's all 'if he wakes up, i'll call for you'
so maire leaves to go back to her job
but she's getting tired and suspicious and she remembers what isabella said to her about ll minding everyone else's business, so she goes to confront ll om a whim about everything
only, ll isn't there, so she looks through some of her things and pries a locked drawer open
inside are some old records, and maire starts reading through them when she realises they're all those women who lost their minds
they describe them as having worked for a rich lady as her aide, and that they all saw the same thing, they were all trying to translate the book, but none of them ever managed to do it and they all went mad in the attempt
a page of this book as been ripped out and is in the middle of the records, and they all have that same writing
it's signed 'r'
panicking, maire takes the records and leaves
