Known for being a labor organzier and supporter of the socialist party, Eugene Debs wanted to ensure better working conditions for the laboring class. He joined the Knights of Labor. He helped organzie the Pullman Strike which led to his imprisonment. He ran for president from prison on a socialist campaign.
