Theseus kidnaps Helen, taking her to Athens to be left with his mother Aethra while he travelled with Pirithous to the Underworld to kidnap Persephone. Upon arriving, Hades feigned hospitality and prepared a feast inviting them to sit. They unknowingly sat in chairs of forgetfulness and were permanently ensnared.
