In year 8 of the reign of Ramesses III, the Sea Peoples, including Peleset, Denyen, Shardana, Meshwesh of the sea, and Tjekker, invaded Egypt by land and sea. Ramesses had built a fleet especially for the occasion, hid it in the Nile's mouths and posted coast watchers. The fleet sailed into the Nile and was caught.
