Fearing the massive control the USSR had over Eastern Europe, Churchill headed to America to make his famous Iron Curtain Speech. Being a veteran of the Tehran and Yalta Conferences, Churchill knew of Stalin and the USSR's ambitions of expansion so he warned America and the rest of the world that a political, ideological, and physical Iron Curtain (Berlin Wall) had descended upon Europe and to an extent, the western and eastern hemispheres itself. This speech set the stage for the Cold War as there were now clear "sides" to this post-WWII world, and he encouraged countries like the US and the UK to stop the spread of Communism and keep peace in the world.
