Slavery was increasing in the colonies and white, privileged people decided to change the laws. Now, if you were born from a slave, you were automatically a slave for life and there was nothing you could do about it. Before this law, if you were born from a slave, you were a free man. Whites had to look down on Blacks in society now. Racism and slavery were now integral in this culture and society.
