On February 15 and 16, 2001, "The scientific journals Nature (February 15) and Science (February 16) publish the first analysis of "maps" of the human genome, the genetic blueprint of the human organism. Mapping the human genome provides science with revolutionary new ways to understand human life and provides an entirely new way to understand, diagnose, and treat disease."
