Snow Flower said three sworn sisters had promised to love her as she was and ended the letter by telling Lily to write back to her. Lily's heart was completely shattered, the most devastation she has felt in her life time was during that moment. She didn't try to look at things from her laotong's perspective but rather delved more into her laotong's wrongdoings and reveled in Snow Flower's flaws. Lily completely shuts her laotong out of her life and burns everything she ever received from her. When Madame Wang came to her to discuss Jade and Spring Moon's laotong contracts, Lily simply said that it would be insult for her daughter to be laotongs with a girl from a butcher's family.
