The Fronde was a short-lived revolution against the ruling regent of France, Cardinal Mazarin, and against the power of the king. An odd combination of nobles and Parlements led the way in demands and terrorizing the countryside of France in what effectively amounted to a civil war. This event had a formative impact on Louis XIV, who for the rest of his life put down any aspiring or rebellious nobles as frondeurs, and who was prompted to take control of his ministers directly, after Mazarin died Furthermore the Fronde can be seen as having much of the same revolutionary sentiment as the French Revolution, which happened over a century later.
