King George III was tired of defending the colonies after Pontiac's Rebellion. Prohibited colonists from settling West of the Appalachian Mountains to prevent western expansion.This would limit violent native encounters, and limit trade in the west.
However, colonists went past line anyway, not happy with Britain setting the line, Britain upset that colonists defied them.
