The caravel was created in the 15th century, it is a small sailing ship. The caravel was developed by the Portuguese for reasons of exploring the West African Coast and parts of the Atlantic. During the Era of Exploration, it was used for carrying cargo and making long distance trips. It had three sails that allowed it to sail into the wind. They had a rounded bottom that gave them the advantage of speed, making this pirate's favorite ship.
