Isaac Newton proposes to the Royal Society that light is composed of particles, and that these particles' waves were carried through aether/ether (disproven), an insubstantial substance that supposedly carried sound, light, magnetism, etc. This is a hypothesized beginning to the consideration of light as composed of particles.
