Study on Noticing
(a & b)
Описание:
a: researchers had Ss complete a questionnaire, the Ss were either alone, with two other Ss, or with 2 confederates. They had the room slowly start to fill with smoke. They found that individuals who were alone calmly left and reported, Ss with other Ss reported 38% of the time and the Ss with the confederates didn't report it at all. None of the Ss in groups attributed their lack of reporting to being in a group, but Latane and Darley found that the simple presence of a group lowers threat and fear levels.

b: They had students communicate together anonymously over a tape, and then had a confederate mimick a seizure and then cry out for help. They found that the less people on the call, the more likely and the quicker an Ss would get help.
