Charles I was born November 19, 1600 in Dunfermline Palace, Fife, Scotland. Charles I was the second son of James I of Scotland moved to England once his father inherited the English throne. In 1625, he was the king of Britain and Ireland and was married to Henrietta Maria after being crowned. Charles inherited the belief in the Divine Right of Kings from his father. He was autocratic and unpopular, especially in his native Scotland, a land he visited for the first time only as an adult. He had many difficulties with Parliament and even suspended them for a time before reconvening them only to be deposed by them. This resulted in the English Civil War and his eventual execution on January 30, 1649 in London England.
