After seeing how particles of pollen constantly moved and theorizing that this was because they were constantly hitting particles of water, Einstein was able to mathematically prove the existence of atoms. The German physicist, who lived from 1879 to 1955, also created the General Theory of Relativity and explained the equivalency of mass and energy through his now-famous equation, e=mc^2.
