The title translates to "Mass of our lady". The piece is a part of a Mass ordinary cycle he composed, which was probably for performance at a Mass for the Virgin Mary. The Kyrie is isorhythmic, based on chants for its texts. The Gloria is generally syllabic and homophonic (except for the melismatic Amens). It is also partially paraphrased from a Gloria chant that moves freely between voices.
