There was conflict over the Ohio Valley and there were British colonists moving west. The Iroquois granted trading right to the British in 1745. France wants to keep territory for trade and to connect Canada to Louisiana, so they build a series of forts in the Ohio River Valley. At this time, George Washington was a twenty-one-year-old Virginian that was sent by the British Government to Fort Duquesne to negotiate the withdrawal of the French (1754). /The battle erupts and the French capture Washington’s stockade, Fort Necessity./ This incident, begins the Seven Years War.
