Описание:

- The Prophet (pbuh) had increased the time he spent in solitude (Khulwah) in the cave of Hira, taking little food and water with him.
- At the age of 40, Muhammad (pbuh) went to the cave during the month of Ramadan, and during one of the nights the first revelation came to him.
- The angel Jibril appeared and instructed Muhammad (pbuh) to Iqra (read/recite)
- The Prophet replied, ’I do not know how to read.”
- The angel squeezed Muhammad (pbuh) until Muhammad could not bear it and released him, and then asked him the Prophet (pbuh) again, whereupon he repeated the same thing.
- After a third time the angel released the Prophet (pbuh) and recited the first few verses of Sura Alaq (96):

> ‘Read! in the name of thy Lord, Who created. Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: Read! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful, He Who taught (the use of) the pen, Taught man that which he knew not.’ (96:1-5)

- The Prophet (pbuh) came out of the cave, confused and shaken, and heard a voice saying,

> ‘Muhammad (pbuh), you are the Messenger of Allah and I am Jibril.’

- He looked up and saw the angel on the horizon, and wherever he looked he could see the angel on the horizon with his six hundred wings spread covering the horizon
- He ran home and told Khadija 'Cover me!', and she covered him till his trembling was over.
- Then he narrated the whole event saying, ‘I fear for myself’.
- Khadijah replied no harm would occur upon him, because Allah will never disgrace him as he had kept good relations with his kith and kin, helped the poor and destitute, served his guests generously and assisted the deserving ones afflicted by calamity.
- They went to see her cousin Waraqa bin Nawfal, who confirmed Muhammad’s prophethood.
