In 1831, a member of the Carbonari, Giuseppe Mazzini, formed another organization known as Young Italy. This organization advocated heavily for unification, contributing significantly to the spreading of a process referred to as the Risorgimento, which aimed to unify Italy.

Since the formation of Young Italy, the Risorgimento gained serious traction throughout Italy. Another important figure of Italian unification, Giuseppe Garibaldi, joined forces with Mazzini in 1833.
