Italy and Germany promise military support in the case of an unprovoked French attack. If 2 or more of the Great Powers attacked 1 of the 3 alliance partners, the other 2 would be required to intervene. If only 1 Great Power forced 1 of the allies to resort to war, the other allies were obliged to remain neutral, unless they decided to assist militarily.
