Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council issued a statement against the surrender of Chan Tong Kai, saying that the Hong Kong government did have jurisdiction over the case, but refused to engage in mutual legal assistance with Taiwan but manipulate Chan behind the scenes to ask him to surrender in Taiwan.
