The British Consulate General in Hong Kong and Macau issued a statement saying that Consul General Andrew Richard Heyn had earlier contacted top officials of the Hong Kong governemnt to clarify the impact of the legislative amendments on British residents, legal cooperation between Hong Kong and Britain and the current extradition arrangements. He also told the Hong Kong government that the amendments might affect business confidence in Hong Kong and hoped that the government would have more time to conduct a comprehensive and extensive consultation.
