Leo was born with the name Giovanni Dii Lorenzo De Medici, he was the first of 4 popes from the house of Medici. While he raised a lot of money to rebuild st. Peter’s basilica. He gave donors indulgences, which was a practice that was not considered very holy. Like the other Medicis he was a big supporter of the arts and education.
