The fighting eventually stopped when the Treaty of Paris was signed. The War of Independence was a fight against the British because the Americans were not happy with the rise in taxes and the British control tightening in on them. The Americans won their independence. The ending of the War of Independence was significant BECAUSE it gave new opportunities and freedom to the American people.
