Kara's escape pod arrives on Earth in Michigan 25 years after Kal-El's. Kal-El, previously an infant, has grown up and no longer needs his cousin to monitor or protect him. Kara is adopted by a farmer couple with a slightly older teenage daughter.

King Merci, to the disagreement of her sister, Hawke, allows Kara to be taken and raised by the Orlesians.
