The Secure Fence Act of 2006 was passed with the purpose of creating a more secure border. The intended border was between the United States and Mexico. The outpost was a fence that crossed roughly 700 miles across the border of the two counties; it was specifically places in areas were illegal crossings were the most common. This act was passed by both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
