X-rays were discovered by Wilhelm Roentgen in 1895 when he was observing his fluorescent crystals near his tube of the cathode ray. The air in the tube was evacuated and when a high voltage was applied, the tube gave a fluorescent glow. He then shielded the tube with heavy black paper and discovered a green coloured fluorescent light. His discovery was the beginning of a new era with advanced technology that would come to save billions of lives in the future, with the use of x-rays machine doctors can now detect sickness early on or a major injury like a bone break.
