The Second Great Awakening was a Protestant movement that gained momentum in the early 19th century, a revival of evangelical fervor. The Cane Ridge camp meeting was the biggest and most well-known religious revivals of the Second Great Awakening and organized by Presbyterian minister, Barton Stone. Stone was inspired by other the intensity of other camp meetings at the time and invited not only fellow Presbyterian ministers, but Baptist and Methodist preachers, as well. The meeting that featured sermons of redemption and "religious exercises" to revive worship hosted approximately between 10 to 20 thousand individuals.
