Swing is a new style of jazz-inspired music that transformed American popular music. It initially developed in the late 1920s by black dance bands in New York, Chicago, and Kansas City. Swing doesn't usually have lyrics and generally has a band with a few soloists improvising throughout the music. Swing is fast and upbeat, and it is known for being dance music.
