The group that traveled all the way to the west coast came back to show the U.S. citizens what they had found. The group had a powerful impact on them and caused many of them to migrate west in search of new land. Many of the citizens and Thomas Jefferson thought Lewis and Clark had died as they hadn't returned in 2 years.
