Nixon was being investigated over the watergate scandal and his involvement. After information had been revealed to the special prosecutor that there was a tape incriminating Nixon. The Supreme Court ruled that Nixon had to turn over tapes to the new prosecutor. When the tapes were reviewed an interesting thing was discovered. On the tape recorded June 23, 1972 (six days after the break in), it was heard the President ordering the cover-up.
