The CEDA was made up of a coalition of right-wing parties and was led by Jose Maria Gil Robles. They made up this coalition in order to defend the religion. property rights and a sense of national unity of the right-wing parties to overthrow the left-wing parties. Also from this coalition of right-wing parties the creation of the fascist group Falange Espanola, led by Joses son Jose Antonio Primo de Rivera. As a result from the formation of the CEDA they were victorious in elections and became the largest party.
