Leading up to these elections, the Republican-Socialist coalition that had been governing for the past years were falling apart and the Radical Republican Party was starting to support the political right. The CEDA, gaining support among Catholics and conservatives which were discontent with the republic's reforms, won the majority of the seats. Additionally, the Anarchists mostly abstained from voting this election. With the win in the election, CEDA immediately worked towards having the new republic's reforms reversed, giving the Republicans a setback on what they had originally put on the constitution.
