Mars Pathfinder/Sojourner lands on July 04, 1997

It is equipped with Rover imaging cameras and an Alpha/Proton/X-ray Spectrometer (APXS). Its mission was to take pictures and take different types of measurements. It was designed with budget and low-cost in mind, it was the first vehicle to be used on any planet besides Earth and was the foundation for the Mars rover used now.
