The abolition of the slave trade act was an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom prohibiting the slave trade in the British Empire. Although it did not get rid of the practice of slavery, it still made other countries be encouraged by it to stop it as well as they did. The significance of the event was that there were no more slaves being traded across different countries.
