The Australian Federation was an act on which all of the 6 British colonies of New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, and Western Australia agreed to unite as one and become Australia. All of the laws from all the states combined and formed a national government federal system. Before it got passed there were lots of conventions on the topic, but they didn’t pass because there wasn’t enough attention for it.The significance of the event was that Australia became a nation and when the British Parliament passed legislation allowing the six Australian colonies to collectively govern Australia.
